Chinatown Walking Tour – Struggles of Our Forefathers

17 Sep 2025 - Asian Tigers Singapore explored the charm of Chinatown with a group of clientele as they delved into the labyrinthine streets adorned with century-old shophouses and iconic temples such as Thian Hock Keng Temple and the Sri Mariamman Temple on this enchanting walking tour.
The tour guide, Ms Mui Soon took them back in time with amazing stories of the early Chinese immigrants and learn how they overcame adversities to build a life in Singapore. They witnessed the Coolie House and the murals painted by artist Yip Yew Chong.
They uncovered hidden gems as they gain insights into local Chinese culture & customs and explored the vibrant street market. Along the way, they were introduced to Chinatown's rich heritage, including its significant historical sites such as the Ann Siang Hill, the Lai Chun Yuan Opera House and Saigo Street etc.
